The Historic Centre
Megacities such as Mexico have been formed by the merger of several towns and villages.
In the case of Mexico City is originally called the Historic Center, area occupied
by the primitive trace of the city, outlined a four-way cosmic map by the Aztecs,
taken as a chess board by the Spanish, rebuilt as a metropolis and aristocratic
convent transformed into a kingdom of dirt, noise and the harvest.
You will find yourself in a living room, noisy and absurd that shakes the senses:
the discreet color center architecture is based on the game from the quarry and
the red volcanic rock, its rate is determined by a centuries-old commercial vocation
framed under iron balconies wrought, His exaltation is punctuated by religious festivals
and social struggles. Although his current tormentors are the many cars that pass,
a visitor can be taken a little train ride on a fixed route or bicycle-taxi, but
the best way is simply walking.
The geometric regularity of the center allows us to visit their various districts
(originally grouped into four areas: San Sebastian, Santa Maria, San Juan and San
Pablo) that converge in the Zocalo, or walk certain streets that point to the cardinal
points and are named Latin American republics, national heroes and events, and some
other name anecdotal. The city also enjoys from squares and parks of great tradition.
